Meeting David LaChapelle
We caught up with artist and photographer David LaChapelle at Gilded Lily in New York City. The mighty MOS DEF enlarged contact sheet is now available!! Leading up to the relaunch of JONATHANMANNION.com, I have been printing 20x24 enlarged contact sheets for everyone to enjoy & to encourage people to start collecting art that moves them! This cover shoot was for The Fader's Spring 2000 issue 3 (Beck & D'Angelo is the opposite cover shot by me as well) in the Dekalb Ave subway station; it was a truly stand out moment from the shoot. The sun set on us too soon & we had to find some natural light on the fly. We achieved a moment that is one of my favorite of all times. Yasiin and I have always had incredible photo shoots over the years, he is simply masterful on the microphone & stage, but more than that a generous soul, he is someone who I truly admire! This moment of freedom really says it all! He is so quick to laugh, inspire and connect with the people around him & I treasure the images that we have created together. To get yours send an email to email@example.com. It’s less than a pair of Jordan’s that you know will get ruined in the club in a month or so! Own a piece of hip hop history!! $300. Signed. Open edition. Bless!
